Common problems for Ultrasonic Cleaner

1What is cavitation effect?

The cavitation effect is a phenomenon that millions of tiny air buble or cavity quickly formed in fluid and blow out. The generation of cavitation is the result of interaction from high and low pressure from Ultrasonic wave. In low pressure phase, the air bubble becomes big little by little, but in high pressure phase, they are condensed and internally exploded.

2How to achieve the best Ultrasonic cleaning quality?

The best cleaning quality depends on many conditions,which the most important is to choose the proper cleaning fluid and cleaning in proper time under correct temperature, choose proper size and type of Ultrasonic cleaner.

3. Will my workpiece be damaged by Ultrasonic cleaning?

Ultrasonic cleaning is safe for most of the workpieces. The energy generated from internal explosion from thousands of air bubble per minute is huge, but the energy is accumulated in very tiny areas, so the entire cleaning process is safe. The most careful consideration for safety is the selection of cleaning fluid. The harm from cleaning fluid to certain workpiece surface will probably be increased due to the use of Ultrasonic. It is not recommended to use Ultrasonic cleaning for below jewelry: opal, pearl, jade, zoisite, malachite, emerald, Lapis Lazuli and coral.

4What is direct and indirect cleaning?

Direct cleaning usually refers to cleaning in cleaning tank that is filled with cleaning fluid. Workpieces are usually put in tray with holes or tooling baskets. The limitation from direct cleaning is that we need to choose the cleaning fluid that will not be harmful to Ultrasonic cleaning tank. Indirect cleaning refers to put workpieces to be washed in beaker or tray without holes, beaker and trays are filled with solution, not directly put in cleaning tank. When choosing indirect cleaning, the water level in the tank must be maintained at standard position.

5. Why special cleaning fluid is needed for cleaning?

The purpose of using cleaning fluid is to break the connection between dirty stuff and work piece, but such cleaning purpose cannot be achieved by water only. The main purpose of Ultrasonic cavitation effect is to assist cleaning fluid in cleaning. One cleaning fluid contains many elements to achieve the best cleaning effect, such as reduce tension on fluid surface to increase cavitation strength, but other kind of Ultrasonic cleaning fluid contains wetting agent or surfactant elements.

6、What kind of cleaning fluid I should use?

Right now the Ultrasonic cleaning fluid that is often used contains many kinds of cleaning elements, wetting agent and mixture of other reaction elements. Choosing proper cleaning fluid is very important for cleaning workpiece effectively and removing any unnecessary reactions. We are sure to provide you cleaning fluid that will give you the best cleaning quality

7. What kind of cleaning fluid I should not use?

Flammable or low-flash solution should not be used. The energy from cavitation is converted into heat energy and kinetic energy and high temperature will be generated in solution. This is very dangerous for flammable fluid. Usually acid cleaning fluid and bleacher should not be used as it will damage stainless steel tank and cause harm. But when they are used in indirect cleaning process, such as wide mouth beaker as indirect cleaning container, they can be used.

8. When it’s time to replace cleaning fluid?

When cleaning, if you see the cleaning fluid is reduced obviously, then it’s time to replace them. Or when cleaning liquid becomes dirty or not effectively, it is also time to replace them

9. Why I have to keep the cleaning fluid within the allowable height of fluid level gauge?

Ultrasonic cleaning system is tuning system. Improper fluid level will change cleaning environment and have an influence to the system frequency and reduce cleaning efficiency and damage equipment. To maintain proper level can make workpiece under the best fluid flow and protect heater and vibrating box not to be damaged by superheating.

10What is the length of cleaning time?

The changes in cleaning time depend on the factors such as dirty stuff, cleaning fluid, temperature and how clean they are. When starting ultrasonic cleaning, at the same time prominent dirty stuffs are removed. Adjustment to the cleaning time is thesimplest method to compensate the changes during compensation process and also it is often misused. Though an experienced operator can try his best to make sure the time needed for a new cleaning process, but usually it needs to be verified by choosing cleaning fluid and polluted workpiece in actual application.

11What is the purpose of having heater?

Huge energy from cavitation will generate heat. The main purpose of having heating device is to maintain the temperature of cleaning fluid during cleaning process.

12What is the best cleaning temperature?

Usually heating can increase cleaning speed. Most of the chemicals in cleaning fluid will reach the best cleaning quality under certain temperature. To find the best temperature is to do tests. Usually the best cleaning temperature is from 50 to 65.
